I seem to like calling this building the “Tokyo Fortress” 😀
It is one of my favorite structures in Tokyo, along with the Tokyo Sky Tree!
This 243 meter-tall building located in Shinjuku, goes up to the 48th floor, and its design (which was meant to resemble a computer chip), by architect Kenzo Tange, has many symbolic touches, most notably the split into two sections from the 33rd floor, which re-creates the look of a Gothic cathedral.
It was finished in 1991, replacing the old Tokyo City Hall (also designed by Kenzo Tange) located at Yurakucho, becoming the last one to be known as Tokyo International Forum.
Going up to the top floor is free, and the view is fantastic. It is definitely one of the best spots to visit in Tokyo!
