Kanji Tip 5 – 馬鹿 (idiot)

This time, the kanji tip that I have to give you is really funny! Check out the kanji:

It’s one of those words so very much used in anime and dramas (well maybe by Japanese in general!). 馬鹿 (baka) means “iditot” or “fool”, but… why is the person you are talking about, an idiot? Behold the answer below!!

The first kanji (馬, uma) means “horse”. The second kanji (鹿, shika) means “deer”.

So, the reason for that person to be an idiot is not understanding the difference between a horse and a deer!! xD
