Tokyo Tower (東京タワー) is a communications and observation tower located in Shiba Park, Minato-ku, Tokyo.
With 333 meters, this tower was inspired in Paris Eiffel Tower and it is the second tallest artificial structure in Japan.
Built in 1958, Tokyo Tower has two observatories, the Main Observatory located at the height of 150 meters, and the Special Observatory reaching 250 meters.
The tower is a support structure for an antenna which is used for television broadcasting by Japanese media outlets such as NHK, TBS and Fuji TV.
However, with the digital television transition made in July 2011, its height was not enough anymore, so soon the broadcasting will be transferred to the recently finished Tokyo Sky Tree.
